2nd International Conference
December 2 - 3, 2021
Strasbourg, France
Abstract submissions will be accepted until the 4th of November 2021 for the following sessions:
Composition and imaging of Lipid Droplets and Oleosomes
Recovering Lipid Droplets and Oleosomes for industrial applications
Dynamic mobilization, hydrolysis, and digestion of Lipid Droplets and Oleosomes
Designer materials with Lipid Droplets and Oleosomes.
More information for each session, as well as details on the submision process, will follow soon.
Oils in plants are organized in natural micron-sized droplets, called Oleosomes (or Lipid Droplets or Oil Bodies). Oils, in the form of triacylglycerides comprise their core, which is surrounded by a unique set of proteins embedded in a dense phospholipid monolayer. The membrane, which is designed through evolution to protect plant oils during seed storage, equips oleosomes with high physicochemical stability.
They can potentially replace manufactured oil droplets in applications, like foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The aim of this conference is to discuss how the fundamental knowledge on the properties of oleosomes can be used to efficiently obtain and use them in real products.
The IBMP, Institut de Biologie Moléculaire des Plantes, represents an inescapable pole regarding research and education in plant biology in France.
Attached to the Institut National des Sciences Biologiques of CNRS, the IBMP is associated with the University of Strasbourg. The institute gathers about 200 persons including researchers, professors, engineers, technicians, PhD students and post-doc fellows.
Wageningen University & Research is a university and research centre in the Netherlands that focusses specifically on the theme 'healthy food and living environment'.
On 29 March an online event for Ph.D. candidates and young researchers will be organised by Wageningen University and Research on Lipid Droplets/Oleosomes. Each researcher can present her/his research, and participate in discussion forums.
